Lions of Australia welcome you to Melbourne

On behalf of Lions of Australia, we want to welcome you to the 106th Lions International Convention! Our great city of Melbourne is one of the most unique and exciting travel destinations in the world.

Making the most of Melbourne

Known as the cultural capital of Australia, Melbourne offers world-class restaurants and bars, exciting nightlife, eclectic festivals, legendary street art, unique shopping boutiques, incredible beaches and dazzling views, as well as some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. No matter what your interests are, there’s something here for you in our great city.

Lions can feel especially good about making the trip to Melbourne, due to its environmentally friendly focus. The city is taking revolutionary action against climate change by implementing programs such as a ban on single-use plastic bags and straws, improving public transportation and even creating a green infrastructure movement.

Admire the beauty of Australia

Enjoy an adventure like no other when you book a tour in Melbourne. See the Great Ocean Road with its breathtaking scenery and incredible sites. Take the popular day trip to Phillip Island and enjoy unique wildlife experiences such as watching penguins come ashore at sunset. Visit the Melbourne Zoo where you will see some of the world’s most amazing animals, or hop on the City Circle Tram to take in the city sights at no cost. No matter your sightseeing goals, Lions are sure to leave the land Down Under with memories to last a lifetime.

Lions in Australia

For 75 years, Lions clubs throughout Australia and Papua New Guinea have been involved in establishing and managing a range of national projects, activities, foundations and initiatives. On average, Lions of Australia complete more than 40,000 service projects each year – about 3,000 of which help the environment. These projects are aimed to improve the quality of air, water and land, as well as protect and preserve local flora and fauna.

Through community fundraising, last year alone we raised more than US$28 million that went towards funding medical research, health care, assisting adults and children with disabilities, emergency response, and other projects to help the community. We look back at our storied past with pride, but we know it’s only the beginning. Every day, we’re building on our legacy with the goal of making an even greater impact in the future.

We can’t wait to see you

Join us in Melbourne for a convention—and an adventure—of a lifetime. And leave some room in your suitcase for all of unforgettable memories you’ll take home. We can’t wait to see you!
