The 107th Lions International Convention is right around the corner. You’re registered for the event. You’ve made the travel plans and even booked the perfect hotel. Now here’s some other useful information to help make your stay in The City Beautiful a memorable one.

Key information

You’ve just touched down in Orlando. This quick list should make getting around town a whole lot easier.

  • Time zone – Orlando is in Eastern Daylight Time or EDT.
  • Currency – Local currency is the United States dollar (USD).
  • Tipping – Tipping is customary at restaurants, cafes or bars in Orlando.
  • Cashless venue – Keep in mind, the Orange County Convention Center is a cashless venue, so be sure to bring along credit and/or debit cards for making purchases at convention.

Orlando fun facts

  • There are 52 golf courses within a 15-mile radius of Orlando — 40 of which are public, and 12 of which are private.
  • Plans for Walt Disney World® Resort were first announced in 1965, and the resort was officially opened in 1971.
  • About 108 rockets are estimated to launch from the Space Coast, which includes NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
  • The first theme park in Orlando was Gatorland, which opened in 1949. The park is still open today.
  • “The City Beautiful” is Orlando’s official nickname.

Beginning Sunday morning at 08:00, you can visit the registration desk inside the Orange County Convention Center with your photo ID to check in and pick up your convention badge. Can’t wait to see you there!
