The 107th Lions International Convention is right around the corner. You’re registered for the event. You’ve made the travel plans and even booked the perfect hotel. Now here’s some other useful information to help make your stay in The City Beautiful a memorable one.

Before you leave home

Time to pack your bags. Here are a few things you’ll want to consider making room for in your suitcase.

  • The essentials – Don’t forget your important travel documents.
    • For those from within the USA attending convention, be sure to bring your REAL ID or passport for air travel.
    • For anyone visiting from outside the USA, be sure to bring the following items with you to the airport (print documents, when possible): passport, Visa/ESTA, confirmation of roundtrip air tickets, hotel or housing confirmation and registration to the Lions International Convention. Check out this useful information for international visitors ahead of your departure to be sure you’re all set to enter the country.
  • Travel adaptors – The USA uses Type A and Type B power outlets and a standard voltage of 120 V at a frequency of 60 Hz.
  • The right attire – The overall convention dress code is casual, but don’t forget to pack all your favorite Lion-branded gear and be prepared for temperatures between 24°C (75°F) and 33°C (92°F).
  • Wheelchair and scooter rental – Preorder yours ahead of arrival as availability will be limited
  • Pins to trade – Pack any pins you’d like to swap, share or exchange to get in on the tradition and fun of pin trading.
  • Donation drive items – Support those in need by donating new men’s or women’s socks, which will benefit shelters and social service agencies around Florida. Socks can be dropped off in the Exhibit Hall collection bin.

Remember, if you’re traveling from outside of the USA, you’ll need to clear customs. Check out this useful information for international visitors ahead of your departure to be sure you’re all set to enter the country.

Getting around Orlando

There are plenty of options available for you to get around Orlando. Those staying at official convention hotels will have exclusive access to shuttles to and from convention events. In addition, you have the following options for getting around.

  • Local bus

  • Rideshare

You’ve just touched down in Orlando. This quick list should make getting around town a whole lot easier.

  • Time zone – Orlando is in Eastern Daylight Time or EDT.
  • Currency – Local currency is the United States dollar (USD).
  • Tipping – Tipping is customary at restaurants, cafes or bars in Orlando.
  • Cashless venue – Keep in mind, the Orange County Convention Center is a cashless venue, so be sure to bring along credit and/or debit cards for making purchases at convention.

Orlando fun facts

  • There are 52 golf courses within a 15-mile radius of Orlando — 40 of which are public, and 12 of which are private.
  • Plans for Walt Disney World® Resort were first announced in 1965, and the resort was officially opened in 1971.
  • About 108 rockets are estimated to launch from the Space Coast, which includes NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
  • The first theme park in Orlando was Gatorland, which opened in 1949. The park is still open today.
  • “The City Beautiful” is Orlando’s official nickname.
