Florida Coalition for the Homeless

Project Description: The Florida Coalition for the Homeless is a low-barrier residential shelter with a focus on housing, emergency services and diversion. They help families and individuals return to stable, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Volunteers will help to prepare and serve a meal in the men’s shelter, as well as clean up post event.

Clean the World

Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2025
Time: 13:00–16:15
Volunteer Capacity: 50
Minimum Age: 8

Project Description: Clean the World was founded to address global health issues by using discarded hygiene supplies from the hospitality industry. Aiming to reduce the number of hygiene-related deaths, it recycles soap into new bars to distribute to communities in need. Volunteers will box hygiene kits that will support worldwide communities vulnerable to hygiene-related illnesses.

NOTE: Volunteers will work in a fan cooled (not air conditioned) warehouse; those with heat sensitivity may want to consider an alternative project.

Samaritan Resource Center

Project Description: Samaritan Resource Center is a drop-in center helping adult individuals get back on their feet through case management, mental health counseling, and basic life essentials such as food, clothing, showers, laundry, and hygiene supplies. Lions and Leos will help to serve a meal, assist guests in the food pantry, and sort donations.

Second Harvest

Date: Wednesday, July 16, 2025
Time: 13:00–16:30
Volunteer Capacity: 50
Minimum age: 10

Project Description: Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida aims to create hope and nourish lives through a powerful hunger relief network, while multiplying the generosity of a caring community. The food bank distributes meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, and Kids Cafés and also runs a culinary job training program. Volunteers will serve in their warehouse; tasks may include gleaning, sorting, checking expiration dates, or boxing up food for distribution.

Magic Yarn Project

Date: Sunday, July 13, 2025

Minimum Age: 8

Project Description: The Magic Yarn Project makes wigs and beanies that provide a magical escape for children who find themselves entrenched in the painful and difficult world of cancer, burns, or other medical hair loss. Volunteers will make soft yarn wigs for children undergoing complex medical treatments around the Orlando area.

Rise Against Hunger

Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2025

Volunteer Capacity: 60

Project Description: With the support of global impact partners, Rise Against Hunger practices locally-led development and provides meals through local schools to incentivize attendance and enable kids to obtain an education. Volunteers will work in an assembly line to pack dry, nutrient rich food for those who need it most.

Fleece Blanket Making

Date: Wednesday, July 16, 2025

Project Description: Join Lions and Leos as we make fleece blankets for Orlando’s Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital. These blankets provide joy, warmth, and security to comfort youth facing complex and potentially, life-threatening medical conditions.
